Parks and Leisure Australia launches new branding, 2013 conference program
Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) has released details of its 2013 National Conference program along with new corporate branding, logo and website.
Launching the program, PLA President Kevin Lowe stated "this year we have organised a fantastic array of speakers from both within and outside the industry.
"The program has been designed to challenge norms and provoke creative thinking for our industry and the important role we play in the wellbeing of all Australians through good policy, planning and provision.
"Personally I am looking forward to hearing from Gil Peñalosa, the Executive Director of the Canadian non-profit organization 8-80 Cities.
"Gil has worked in over 130 different cities in all continents and as the former Commissioner of Parks, Sport and Recreation for the City of Bogotá, Colombia, successfully led the design and development of over 200 parks which sees over one million people walk, run, skate and bike along 121 kilometres of city roads every week.
"Rachel Robertson's experiences about the ups and downs of being an authentic leader and the highs and lows of leading an expedition to Antarctica will be fascinating, along with Dr Jason Fox on how to apply the power of game design to influence behaviour in our work place, boost productivity, and 'make clever happen.'
"Another highlight will be Wes Fleming and Phil Johnson who are joining us to share their experiences of winning Best in Show at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, one of the things to do on my bucket list!"
With the theme 'Transforming People and Places', the Conference is being held from 13th to 16th October at the Pullman Albert Park in Melbourne.
The Conference will focus on how government agencies, private sector organisations, groups and individuals are transforming policy, planning and provision in the parks and leisure associated industries and will identify the opportunities that will arise as a result.
Conference Convener John Senior adds "acclaimed as Australia's events capital, Melbourne is the perfect location for a national event of this calibre, with access to historic theatres, state-of-the- art stadiums, international sporting venues and a constant line-up of world-class entertainment and festivals throughout the year."
Full details of the Conference can be found on the new look PLA website, which also displays the new PLA logo and the corporate branding that the PLA is for 'the people behind the places'.
