Outstanding athletes selected as VenuesWest Brand Ambassadors

Four of the Western Australia's high performing athletes have been selected for the second year of the VenuesWest Brand Ambassador Program.

Based at one of VenuesWest's 13 sport and entertainment venues, each Ambassador has competed, or is striving to compete, at the highest levels for Australia.

In their role they will each receive $5,000 to assist with their training and competition expenses.

The Ambassadors are:

Courtney Bruce - netball: Bruce trains at the State Netball Centre and, as captain of the West Coast Fever netball team, plays at HBF Stadium and Perth Arena. She is a regular member of the Australian Diamonds team, winning silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is considered one of Australia's greatest defenders.

Sarah Edmiston – athletics: Sarah competes in F44 Discus, with the WA Athletics Stadium and WAIS High Performance Service Centre her home venues. Sarah won a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championships in 2017 and is currently aiming for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Nina Kennedy – athletics: Nina is a pole-vaulter, training and competing at the WA Athletics Stadium as well as the WAIS High Performance Service Centre. Nina recently claimed a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and is currently competing on the European circuit.

Conor Leahy - track cycling: Conor trains and competes at the SpeedDome as well as the WAIS High Performance Service Centre. In his first international competition Conor placed third in his two events and is focused on gaining selection to the national team.

Commenting on the program, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray stated “the Brand Ambassador Program supports four of our best athletes with their training and competition expenses.

"They will help inspire other up and coming sportspeople, as they pursue their dreams of competing on the world stage."
