Outback Spectacular launches Phar Lap tribute

Gold Coast dining experience the Australian Outback Spectacular (AOS) has launched a remarkable new show, 'Spirit of the Horse with a Tribute to Phar Lap'.

Officially launched on Wednesday (7th December), the show celebrates the courageous spirit of the Australian horse and commemorates the legend that is Phar Lap. The historic Australasian tale is brought to life in the AOS' specially designed 1,000 seat arena, featuring an amazing cast of characters, stunning special effects and magnificent animals including the spirited Australian stockhorse.

Writer and Director Simon Wincer says that he expects the new show will ontinue to entertain fans, stating "the previous show was well supported by locals and we want to give them something new and exciting.

"It made a great movie (The Cup) and now it has made a great show."

Village Roadshow Theme Parks Chairman John Menzies said the new show came on the back of the hugely successful run of Heroes of the Light Horse and he hoped it would bring more of Australia's history to light.

Menzies told local media "we decided to dedicate this new show to the legendary Australian story of Phar Lap, further enhancing our cultural heritage and paying tribute to one of Australia's most courageous and spirited horses."

Spirit of the Horse with a Tribute to Phar Lap will open nightly from Tuesday to Sunday with matinee shows one Sunday a month. The show runs for an hour and a half including a three-course Aussie barbecue dinner.
