Merlin Entertainments' flyer attractions reopen with additional health and safety measures

Merlin Entertainments have announced the reopening of the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures in Victoria and the Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures in NSW on Saturday 6th June following the Australian Government’s recent announcement allowing zoos and aquariums to begin trading again.

Guests can explore the outdoors once again from the incredible elevated walkways at both attractions, knowing there are additional health and safety measures in place to ensure the wellbeing of all visitors and team members.

The reopening of both attractions gives people of all ages the opportunity to reconnect with nature and immerse themselves in a beautiful and serene outdoor environment after months of being confined indoors.

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures Attraction Manager, Nathan Bridgeman notes “we are thrilled to welcome guests back to Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. In order to ensure all of our guests feel completely at ease visiting, we have implemented a range of new health and safety measures that seek to reduce the risks associated with the presence of COVID-19.

“First and foremost, we ask that all guests pre-book their tickets online in advance so we can carefully manage the number of people on the Treetop Walk and inside our visitor centre.”

Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures Attraction Manager, Andrew Zentrich advised “we can’t wait to welcome guests back to Illawarra Fly after being closed for over two months. In a time like this where people have been confined indoors for so long, being able to provide a memorable outdoor experience is going to be something really special.

“We’ve also made some changes to the way things operate on a day to day basis at Illawarra Fly, as the health and safety of our guests and employees is our number one priority.”

In line with government advice and requirements of local health authorities, both Illawarra Fly and Otway Fly Treetop Adventures are moving forward with a cashless approach and are requesting all visitors pre-book their tickets online to guarantee entry. The daily capacity has been reduced to allow for social distancing and the best possible guest experience. Enhanced cleaning measures have been introduced throughout the day to disinfect high-frequency touch points. Social distancing controls are in place for queues, Treetop Walk, Zipline Tour, visitor centre and café.

Illawarra Fly features breathtaking views over the Illawarra Escarpment and a beautiful 1.5km walk through nature. The 500 metres of elevated walkway allows visitors to feel as if they are part of the canopy, raised an incredible 20-30 metres above the forest floor. This walkway also features two gently swaying cantilever and a central spiral tower that rises 45 metres to those panoramic views.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Zipline Tour which includes three flights, two suspension bridges and four cloud stations. On the Zipline Tour, visitors will gain a unique perspective of the rainforest as they soar through the treetops and immerse themselves in nature. Zipline Tours have a limited capacity due to social distancing so booking online is required.

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures Zipline tour takes guests on an adrenalin pumping experience 30 metres above the forest floor, presenting a unique way to view the rainforest.

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures features a breathtaking Treetop Walk. The 600 metre long, 25 metre high elevated walkway provides unrivalled views of the region’s flora and fauna. The peak of the walk presents the 45 metre high spiral tower and a cantilever perched above Young’s Creek.
