Orange Aquatic Centre to introduce pool inflatables
The Orange Aquatic Centre Aquatic Centre is to introduce new pool inflatables from Aflex later this month.
Looking to add to the facility’s recreational offerings, the Orange City Council has spent $33,000 on four constant airflow obstacle course modules which include the 21-metre long 'Crazy Race' for the 50-metre pool and a six-metre 'Zoom-Extreme' slide.
Features include a slide from a five-metre high middle level platform of the diving tower into the diving pool.
Two giant inflatable tubes will be set up in the indoor 25-metre pool.
Pool users will have to pay extra to use the equipment but the fee is yet to be set.
Expecting the slides to be popular, Orange Mayor Reg Kidd stated “we realise with the drought and constant warm days, we needed to entertain pool customers.”
Orange Council's Sport and Recreation Committee Chair Councillor Jason Hamling said they would not hamper lap swimmers or water polo, advising “these new installations aren't permanent and can be uninstalled quickly and easily.”
Council spokesman Nick Redmond said the Centre had enjoyed high usage levels over the holiday period, adding “the numbers are still being tallied but on the three days immediately after Boxing Day more than 1000 people came through the turnstiles each day. It's good to see young families making use of the indoor pool when the weather is hot.”
New Zealand-based Aflex Inflatables supply commercial pool inflatables, aquatic toys and games, aquatic parks and playgrounds, waterslides, marine and open water products, and fitness and obstacle course features.
