Olympic Weightlifting added to program at NZ Fitness and Health Expo
After its exposure at the recent 2018 Commonwealth Games, the NZ Fitness & Health Expo is recognising the growing popularity of weightlifting by adding it to the line-up of features on show at the upcoming 2018 event.
With weightlifting growing in popularity as a fitness activity, Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand General Manager, Emma Pilkington explains "after our teams success at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, we are excited to add another big event to our Calendar and have our top athletes compete in our first ever Weightlifting Invitational at the 2018 NZ Fitness & Health Expo.
We're looking to expose and educate more Kiwis about the sport of weightlifting and prove that it's an accessible sport for everyone and anyone.
“Weightlifting doesn’t discriminate against age, gender or body size/shape.”
Expo Event Sales Manager Jono Ridler adds “the addition of an iconic sport like Olympic Weightlifting to the show adds to the strong showcase of sports and fitness trends we’ve featured each year of the Expo.
“We’re really excited to work with OWNZ to show visitors some of the great talent and strength from NZ weightlifting participants in an upbeat and exciting environment and maybe encourage a few to give it a go”.
The NZ Fitness & Health Expo is New Zealand’s largest showcase of health & fitness products and services for consumers and industry professionals and is being held again at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on 27th and 28th October.
Last year the Expo attracted over 9,000 visitors over the two days and 130+ exhibitors from across New Zealand and Australia.
