Ocean Park Hong Kong presents preview of new Water World attraction
Hong Kong theme park Ocean Park has previewed some of the attractions and zones of its new HK$4 billion (US$50 million) Water World waterpark, which is launching later in 2021.
Water World’s 27 attractions will include a surf rider, nine water slides and Hong Kong’s first-ever indoor wave pool.
Commenting on the expansion, Ocean Park Deputy Chairman, Paulo Pong stated “Water World is set to bring out the adventurous spirit in all of us
“With an architectural design that embraces the natural terrain, it gives adventurers the opportunity to take in the beauty that surrounds our Southern District.
“We’re so looking forward to welcoming everyone to Water World soon.”
Water World’s five unique zones offering 27 indoor and outdoor attractions, which include Hong Kong’s first-ever surf rider and nine water slides.
Zones include Splendid Reef, an expansive open area overlooking the South China Sea, the waterslide precinct of Torrential River, Thrill Valley - with extreme slides and freefall experiences and Hidden Village includes Hong Kong’s first-ever indoor wave pool, Horizon Cove.
Water World’s Adventure Coast is a relaxing zone offering F&B.
Horizon Cove’s wave pool, to be known as ManulifeMOVE Wave, is sponsored by Manulife - a move welcomed by Pong, who added “we are excited to introduce Manulife as the first major sponsor of Water World, which underpins the strong support received from our Hong Kong community towards this extraordinary addition to the city’s leisure and entertainment offerings.”

The Hong Kong Government recently agreed to Ocean Park’s HK$6.8bn ($87.6 million) makeover plans, which involve relaunching the theme park as an open-air classroom and adventure-themed resort.
