Ocean Park Embraces Hong Kong Destination Month

To celebrate the upcoming Shanghai Expo 2010 and support Destination Month at the Expo’s Hong Kong Pavilion, Ocean Park will launch a distinctive 3D display at Xintiandi, Shanghai from 31st May to 15th June to showcase the Park’s latest attractions and diverse animal repertoire.

The Park is joining with Hong Kong Tourism Board to showcase Hong Kong’s appeal as a premium destination for visitors from around the world.

Alon with the display, Ocean Park will also host an exciting mascots show from 11th to 13th June at the same venue to give visitors an opportunity to meet popular Park mascots like Whiskers, Redd and Later Gator.

As Ocean Park Chief Executive Tom Mehrmann explains “we are proud to play a part in Expo 2010 to help promote Hong Kong as an exciting place to be for visitors from Mainland China and abroad. Mainland visitors represent a significant market for Ocean Park and account for 45% of Ocean Park’s attendance.

“We will continue to promote Ocean Park in the Mainland market and hopefully the Expo will serve as a platform for more people to know about us.

“Ocean Park’s HK$5.55 billion Master Redevelopment Plan (MRP) is now fully under way. Amazing Asian Animals and Ocean Express were two latest attractions which opened last year and looking ahead, we will launch a host of exciting attractions and themed areas such as Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium – Yangtze Exploration and Aqua City to give our guests plenty of reasons to come back again and again!”

Ocean Park is Hong Kong’s unique homegrown theme park with a heritage of delivering family fun and fond memories. Since its opening in January 1977 as a non-profit organisation, Ocean Park has developed itself to be a world-class attraction connecting people with nature, and recognized for its animal husbandry, research and relationship with the community.

Over 95 million people have visited Hong Kong's premier park since its inception and Ocean Park has remained committed to offer adults and children experiences that blend entertainment with education and conservation. Part of the proceeds from the Ocean Park admission tickets and some retail items will go to Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong to support its wildlife conservation projects.
