Green light for Ocean Park hotels

Hong Kong attraction Ocean Park has received a conditional approval to build three new hotels.
Ocean Park Chair, Allan Zeman, has explained that the Hong Kong Town Planning Board's decision to approve the park's planning application a means that park management will be able to move forward and start to gauge market interest in the early part of 2009.
Zeman stated that "the designs that will ultimately be selected for each of the three hotels will be in line with the Parkâs mandate of education and conservation, be respectful of our surrounding environment, and be fully sympathetic to the needs of our neighbourhood community.?
Ocean Park will now study the recommendations made by the Town Planning Board and believes the hotels could be up and running by 2011.
The three hotels will each have their own distinctive theme and more detailed designs are expected to be unveiled later this year.
