O'Brien to take up Qatar post
Milton O'Brien is to leave his position as Manager - Business Development and Marketing at the Wollongong Sports and Entertainment Centre (WSEC) to become the Manager Venues and Visitor Services at the Aspire Zone in Doha, Qatar.
Speaking of Milton's departure, WSEC boss Stuart Barnes stated "I am personally indebted to Milton for his passionate involvement in our business over the last 11 years and I will miss him.
"Milton was the second person I employed at the new organisation when the Wollongong Entertainment Centre was being built back in 1998 and he and I have shared an amazing journey."
Located just eight kilometres from Dohaâs Central Business District, the 250 hectare Aspire Zone was the main venue for the 15th Asian Games in 2006.
The multi-purpose facility has established itself as a 'centre of excellence' for sport, education and training, health and sport medicine, and leisure and recreation.
The Aspire Zone offers both local and international visitors access to world-class sports facilities and activities, high-end retail shopping and luxurious green parks for relaxation and for family enjoyment.
The Aspire Zone will be featured in the November/December 2009 issue of Australasian Leisure Management.
