NZRA rebrands as Recreation Aotearoa
The New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) has advised that, from tomorrow, it will be known as Recreation Aotearoa.
Explaining the rebrand, the Association advises “we work for the benefit of New Zealanders by building capability and networks within the recreation workforce, raising awareness of best practice and advocating for the benefits of recreation. We equip our members with the resources, knowledge, language and skills so they can deliver high quality recreation for all.
“We want our brand to reflect this passion, to show that we are both a strong and meaningful membership organisation as well as the voice of recreation. This is a fresh and exciting time to be part of our industry, and we want our brand to show that.
“We are the voice of recreation in Aotearoa, representing all professionals in the industry. We empower our members to deliver the quality recreation experiences, places and facilities, that fuel a more active, healthy and connected NZ.”
According to the Active NZ survey 2018, recreation is a top priority for New Zealanders with 63% of young people and 62% of adults only participating in non-competitive activities and a huge number using facilities such as pools, playgrounds, parks and fields every week.
Participation in recreation can increase a population’s capacity, capability and wellbeing. Recreation can add value to the measures used in the Government’s Wellbeing Framework, which measures wellbeing using a set of indicators that include cultural identity and activity.
New Zealand Recreation Association will continue as the body’s official name.
A new stakeholder pack, featuring new logos and brand guidelines, will be available from Recreation Aotearoa as of tomorrow.
