Head of Auckland Parks Services named new NZRA Chairperson

The New Zealand Recreation Association has appointed Mark Bowater as its new Chairperson.

Bowater ascended to the role at the NZRA’s December Board, with Michele Frey named Deputy Chair of the organisation.

With over 20 years’ experience in parks and recreation management and senior leadership roles, Bowater is the Head of Parks Services for the Auckland Council.

In a statement, NZRA advise that “Mark is a champion and advocate for sustainability outcomes in the parks management environment, and the important contribution this makes to urban liveability.

“He offers a strategic outlook combined with a proven track record of achievements that make a difference.”

Bowater has been a member of the NZRA for over 17 years, and is passionate about the contribution the wider recreation industry makes to the quality of our lifestyles in New Zealand.

Michele Frey is Work Group Manager (Environmental Services) at Opus International Consultants.
