NTMEC releases latest round of revamped Event Funding for Northern Territory

The latest round of the Northern Territory Government’s Event Funding Program (EFP) has opened. Administered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC), the EFP supports events of all shapes and sizes that celebrate the uniqueness of the NT, from the Top End to the Red Centre and plenty of places in between.

The EFP supports the local events sector, helps attract new events to the Territory, boosts tourism and visitation, and enhances the Territory lifestyle by helping to build a year-round events calendar.

A wide variety of events are supported, including cultural days, music festivals, sporting competitions and special interest events.

The EFP has been revamped to make it easier to apply. The three categories applicants can apply for are:

  • Cultural Event – celebrates arts, music, culture, multi-culturalism, food and beverage, innovation, diversity, niche interests and seasonality;

  • Sport Event – celebrates sport, inspires sport participation, improves liveability;

  • Aboriginal Cultural Event – celebrates Aboriginal culture, inspires the community, attracts visitation, and encourages, supports, empowers and builds the capacity of Indigenous businesses.

NTMEC Chief Executive Suzana Bishop shared “Supporting events through the Event Funding Program helps build the Territory’s diverse events portfolio, which has a range of benefits. Amazing festivals and events improve the liveability of the NT for Territorians, boost tourism and deliver millions of dollars into our economy. Supporting a wide range of events also provides employment and upskilling opportunities for Territorians.

“The Territory is home to some of the most unique and diverse events in Australia, many of which garner national and even international attention. Each round of the EFP we are blown away by the ideas put forward, whether they are ideas for completely new events, or proposals on how existing events can grow and evolve. We can’t wait to see the applications for this latest round.”

The EFP is now open and will close at 5pm on Friday, 10th November. To find out more and to apply go to www.ntmajorevents.com.au
