NSW Government delivers funding for high-performance sport training venues

A $150 million NSW Government funding program is focussed on developing NSW’s next generation of sports stars through world-class high-performance training facilities.

Applications are now open for the Centre of Excellence fund, with grants from $5 million to $15 million available to sporting, education and government organisations to enhance their facilities.

A key requirement for funding is the inclusion of dedicated female programs and facilities to improve pathways for women and girls, in line with the NSW Government’s women in sport strategy Her Sport Her Way. Applicants are also required to provide a co-contribution and demonstrate improved community outcomes for people using their facilities.

NSW Minister for Sport Natalie Ward said the funding is one of the NSW Government’s key sporting initiatives and aims to develop the talent of the state’s future sports stars.

Minister Ward notes “these high-performance training venues will also have a strong community feel, with multi-purpose facilities allowing community programs to be expanded for the enjoyment of all."

“The Centres of Excellence will make our sporting codes the envy of sporting administrations around the world.”

Applications for Round One close 11th February 2022.
