NRL's Panthers sell out Christchurch fixture

Christchurch's AMI Stadium will be filled to capacity tomorrow (Saturday 14th May) when the Penrith Panthers host the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL Telstra Premiership round 10 fixuture.

Ticket sales had been progressing well over the past few months, but sales accelerated even more in the past week, with the last few hundred tickets selling on Wednesday.

Match organiser Justin Wallace said he was pleased that South Island sports fans had recognised the opportunity to see the best rugby league competition in the world.

Wallace stated "it is wonderful that we can give the Panthers and the Warriors a packed stadium that will be rocking with excited rugby league fans."

Wallace and his business partner Craig Douglas are delighted that their confidence in Christchurch’s appetite for big events has been rewarded with a full stadium, adding "it will be terrific to show the television audiences around Australia and around the world that Christchurch is open for business and a great venue to host big events."

Wallace acknowledged support from the Christchurch City Council and Christchurch International Airport in staging the fixture.
