Nostalgia-fuelled Monopoly ‘theme park’ set to open in Melbourne
An indoor theme park based on the perennially popular board game monopoly is counting down to opening in Melbourne this summer.
Growing from escape-room concepts, Monopoly Dreams, an immersive social entertainment centre, will place guests within the iconic square trail and features of the Parker Brothers board game, including the utilities and an actual jail cell.
Divided into two sections, Monopoly City and Monopoly Mansion, with 15 unique attractions spread across both sections, the centre will feature a 4D theatre where fans can ride the railway, a Water Works projection game, the infamous Bank, filled with actual Monopoly money and a Chance wheel for getting prizes.
The City will also be designed to resemble the layout of Melbourne, complete with trams while the 1650 metre² attraction will feature Monopoly money which you can use in-game as well as at the adjoining diner and merchandise store.
The world’s second Monopoly Dreams attraction after the Hong Kong original, the $20 million Monopoly Dreams has been developed Derek Lo and Stephen Lo.
Derek explained “it’s our passion and mission to bring the good stuff from overseas to Australia,” with Stephen adding “you don’t see anything like this in Australia.”
