North Queensland Cowboys announce executive changes following chief executive's departure

The North Queensland Cowboys have announced changes to the Club's executive structure following the recent announcement of Chief Executive Greg Tonner's resignation.

The Club has appointed Chief Commercial Officer Jeff Reibel as acting Chief Executive while General Manager - Human Resources Micheal Luck is taking on the new role of Chief Operating Officer, also in an acting capacity, with both appointments effective immediately.

Last week’s announcement that Tonner had resigned from the organisation, followed him heading the club for four seasons.

Commenting on his departure, Chairman of the Board, Laurence Lancini stated "Greg has been a dedicated leader and a well-respected contributor to the club and community at large. He is respected by his peers and colleagues alike, and has been instrumental in a number of significant outcomes for the Cowboys."

"His leadership, energy, engagement and integrity is to be commended."

"Greg has done a wonderful job as CEO as can be seen by the overall performance of the Club and in particular the growth in Membership, Community, Sponsorship and Commercial."

"The Club is in a very strong position to take on the next phase of its development."

"We thank Greg for his enormous contribution."

Speaking about the executive changes and how the club is in a strong position to take on the next phase of its development, Lancini added “the Club has many new projects on the horizon including the new Stadium and the High Performance Centre and the Board is confident that the club will be successful in navigating these new horizons under the guidance of Jeff and Micheal and the remainder of the executive leadership team.

"Our Club will continue to plan for the future and the unity and stability we pride ourselves in will continue under our new structure."
