Noosa Triathlon secures Queensland Government funding until 2025
The Noosa Triathlon has secured funding from the Queensland Government until at least 2025.
Advising that the sponsorship is part of an ongoing commitment to support major sporting events, Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk stated “our strong partnership with The IRONMAN Group Oceania through Tourism and Events Queensland has seen a new deal to support the Garmin Noosa Triathlon for a further two years from 2024/25.
“The Garmin Noosa Triathlon is part of a six-event IRONMAN portfolio for Queensland, delivering globally renowned endurance events across the state.
“Attracting athletes from all over Australia and the world, the Garmin Noosa Triathlon is a bucket list location to compete.”
Premier Palaszczuk said the Garmin Noosa Triathlon contributes $22 million to the local economy, supports nearly 100,000 visitor nights and brings more than 22,000 visitors to the region annually.
“This is an important event for the local visitor economy and it is important for the local community we give certainty it will continue.
“Queensland continues to carve out a reputation as a world-class sporting host and this boost to our exceptional suite of long-established endurance sport events sees us boasting some of the largest and highest profile of their kind in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Geoff Meyer, Managing Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania, said that the team is delighted to be continuing the successful partnership with the Queensland Government to deliver the event.
Meyer added “the Queensland Government and The IRONMAN Group Oceania have a long history of successfully delivering world class events across Queensland, including the world’s largest Olympic distance triathlon, The Garmin Noosa Triathlon.
“This is an event that is incredibly important not only to the triathlon community but to the local community, and we’re thrilled that the Queensland Government has secured the future of this event until at least 2025.
“As we head into next year’s 40th anniversary of the event, we’re delighted that athletes, legends, celebrities and supporters will continue to flock to Queensland to be a part of the magic of the Noosa Triathlon.”
