New Zealand Chairman to head FIFA reform taskforce
New Zealand Football Chairman Frank van Hattum has been chosen to jointly lead one of four task forces created to reform world football governing body FIFA's governance processes.
Along with Paraguayan FA President Juan Angel Napout, van Hattum (pictured) will head the Task Force Transparency and Compliance, one of four committees announced by FIFA President Joseph Blatter announced last week as part of a series of measures to ensure good governance, transparency and zero tolerance for wrongdoing on or off the pitch.
Explaining his appointment van Hattum stated "it's a great honour and responsibility to be involved in the reform process.
"FIFA's name has been tarnished by the actions of a few, but there is a very strong commitment from the worldwide football family to improve processes, add greater transparency and restore FIFA's reputation."
The groups: Task Force Revision of Statutes, Task Force Football 2014 and Task Force FIFA Ethics Committee feed into the good governance committee which will oversee the reform process.
The first reform proposals from the task forces will be discussed at the next FIFA Executive Committee meeting in Tokyo on 16th and 17th December.
