New Indonesian glamping resort becomes Crystal Lagoons first south east Asian installation

The newly opened Natra Bintan hotel in Indonesia is a significant development, as it overlooks Crystal Lagoons’ first man-made crystalline lagoon in south east Asia while also introducing the concept of glamping to Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago.

Guests can enjoy the unique water amenity, powered by Crystal Lagoons pioneering technology, that has been patented in over 190 countries. The tropical, clear turquoise lagoon, which is open to the public, offers guests a wide range of water activities, including family-friendly boat-rides, slides, kayaking and wakeboarding, to name a few.

Known as Treasure Bay Bintan, the six hetacre crystalline lagoon, which spans 800 metres in length, has a maximum depth of 2.5 metres. It functions as a Public Access Lagoon and can be accessed by the general public via ticketed entry.

Additionally, by using state of the art technology created by the biochemist turned real estate entrepreneur, Fernando Fischmann, founder and President of Crystal Lagoons, the lagoon is environmentally friendly and energy efficient. The lagoon requires up to 100 times less chemicals than a conventional swimming pool or drinking water treatment technologies, and consumes only 2% of the energy needed by conventional swimming pool filtration systems.

Hospitality company Marriott International’s first tented concept resort on the edge of the lagoon sits amid Bintan’s tropical greenery and offers 100 safari-themed tents feature private patios and gardens, outdoor rainforest showers and luxurious comforts.

Each tent, measuring over 40 metre², is furnished with a four-poster bed and comes complete with a lush garden and outdoor patio.

In addition to admiring the beauty of the manmade Crystal Lagoon, guests can engage in a host of water activities, from family-friendly bumper boat rides and fun slides to wakeboarding.

Additional outdoor activities on offer include ATV rides through a private jungle trail, exploring the sand dunes in the nearby Busung area and cruising through a private mangrove reserve.

Natra Bintan is a 40-minute drive from Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Tanjung Pinang and is also accessible with a ferry ride from Tanah Merah Port in Singapore.
