New waterslide enhances popularity of West Wyalong pool
A new waterslide at the Holland Park Pool in West Wyalong in the Central West region of NSW has proved a popular attraction during the summer months.
Installed by Australian Waterslides and Leisure, the waterslide replaced a decades old slide and has reinvigorated the popular Bland Shire Council facility.
Angus Westaway, General Manager for facility manager the L&R (Leisure & Recreation) Group, explains “the new slide has freshened up the pool with its vibrant colour scheme blending with the rest of facility.”
While West Wyalong, the main town in the Bland Shire has a population of 3,000, the Holland Park Pool attracts in excess of 30,000 visits during its six month (October to April) operating season.
A community hub offering casual swimming and exercise classes in its 50 metre pool, it also offers a diving board, inflatables and a children’s aquatic playground.
Commenting on the project, Australian Waterslides and Leisure Managing Director Annette Matthews stated “AWL was very happy to have worked along with the council and especially with Angus to replace a slide that we originally designed and installed about 30 years ago.
“We are confident that the new slide will give another long period of service and provide healthy outdoor fun for the kids in the local community in West Wyalong.”
The L&R Group which operates five other facilities in regional NSW, manages the pool on behalf of the Bland Shire Council.
The waterslide costs $3.20 for unlimited use between 12 and 5pm.
The $150,000 project was made possible through funding from the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
