New sports facilities for Delahey Recreational Reserve

Brimbank City Council has advised that the $3.8 million dollar upgrade to Delahey Recreational Reserve in the north west Melbourne suburb of Taylors Lakes, is now complete with the revamped facilities including a new community sports pavilion and two additional change rooms on school land to enable maximum use of this new site.

The new amenities will provide sports clubs, schools and community users with outstanding sports facilities to hold training sessions, sports matches, community events and tournaments.

Conveniently located next to the soccer field, new female–friendly change rooms will also provide better access for players, ensuring the facilities are suitable for the whole community.

Delahey Reserve is used by three sports clubs: the ETA Buffalo Soccer Club, Taylors Lakes Football Club and Taylors Lakes Cricket Club.

The project was jointly funded by Brimbank City Council, who contributed close to $3.5 million, and the Victorian Government who contributed $375,000 under the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The new community sports pavilion social room was also designed to split into two spaces, so two clubs can use the facility at the same time. The pavilion will also enable Copperfield College and the community centre to access the social space for increased programs.

These much-needed upgrades are a top priority in Council’s rolling programs to Creating Better Sports facilities through the Sports Facility Development Plan.
