New Oracle hospitality technology division introduced to the Australasian venue industry

Oracle’s new hospitality and venue technology division, with its focus on attractions, hotels, venues, sport, retail and food and beverage, has been revealed to the Australasian venue industry at the Venue Industry Congress in Adelaide this week.

Established following Oracle’s US$5.3 billion acquisition of Micros, maker of hardware and software for the hospitality industry, last year, the new global business unit is led by Mike Webster, head of Oracle's retail business unit.

Introducing the new business unit, Webster explained in a statement “our customers will appreciate our deep domain expertise across both retail and hospitality as we deliver mission-critical solutions to solve our customers' most important business initiatives.”

With over 35 years of expertise in delivering robust, scalable hardware and software solutions to sports and entertainment venues around the world, Oracle provides technology to cater to tens of thousands of fans and patrons during high-volume periods.

Oracle provides technology solutions for venue management, including concessions, restaurant and premium services, suite management, catering, and retail. Through the acquisition of Micros, Oracle delivers technology solutions for this fast-paced and customer-centric environment that speed up customer service and ultimately result in exceptional fan experiences.

With a commitment to innovative mobile and cloud solutions, Oracle provides its clients with a platform for maximising revenues and efficiency, while delivering the optimum fan experience of the future.

Oracle first announced the Micros acquisition in June last year and plans to increase investment in research and development for Micros's products.

Oracle’s Australian clients include the Sydney Cricket Ground, where its technology enables in-seat ordering for F&B during events, and Gagudju Dreaming in Kakadu in the Northern Territory.

Oracle is exhibiting on stand 12 at the 2015 Venue Industry Congress in Adelaide – being held on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th May.
