Celebrity chef Matt Moran named Culinary Ambassador at Sydney’s Accor Stadium and CommBank Stadium and Optus Stadium in Perth
Renowned chef and restauranteur Matt Moran has joined Sydney’s Accor Stadium and CommBank Stadium and Optus Stadium in Perth in the role of Culinary Ambassador - bringing his food philosophy to the three venues.
Committed to elevating the food offering and showcasing Australia produce at some of the nation’s biggest sport and entertainment events, Moran will first bring his expertise and inspirations to match day premium spaces at the venues.
This will include this weekend’s AFL Final between Fremantle and Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium on 2nd September and the NRL Grand Final at Accor Stadium on Sunday 2nd October.
Moran’s menus will later be expanded to private suites and other functions including gala dinners, conferences and banquets.
Commenting on bringing his food philosophy to the venues, Moran advised “I am thrilled to be partnering with (these venues) and I’m looking forward to sharing my food philosophy with the chefs who cater for such large numbers of guests at every event.
“At the heart of everything I do is a passion for quality produce that is fresh and seasonal, and I’m excited by the challenge of bringing my food philosophy to life at these fantastic venues, which host our favourite footy teams, major concerts and so many business, community and cultural events off the playing fields.”
Venues NSW Chief Executive, Kerrie Mather said the partnership will would continue the network-wide transformation of the match-day experience for members and corporate partners, stating “this is an important step in expanding NSW’s world-leading hospitality offerings into our major stadiums.
“I can’t wait to see Matt and his team deliver the best food and beverage experiences at NSW's biggest sporting events and concerts.”
Noting that the venue had already established a reputation as a top-class dining option in Perth and Moran’s addition as Culinary Ambassador would add greatly to the experience, Optus Stadium Chief Executive, Mike McKenna explained “the fact Optus Stadium has just been recognised as Venue of the Year on the international stage shows that we have incredible chefs working within our team, and now everyone is excited by the potential to learn and grow with an Australian icon like Matt Moran joining us as Culinary Ambassador.”
Accor Stadium Chief Executive, Daryl Kerry, who is also Chief Executive of CommBank Stadium, said as well as the match-day corporate and member experience, the big winners will be the scores of non-event day functions and events at the venues.
Explaining that Moran will also bring his inspiration to feature food items in the General Admission areas of the stadiums at major event, Kerry added “Matt Moran is an Australian food icon who has a real passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and we believe he can help us achieve a new level of in-stadium food offerings while showcasing the best of NSW produce.”
With a career spanning over 30 years in the Australian food industry, Moran, who has a plethora of awards and best-selling cookbooks to his name, is also the owner of some of Australia’s most celebrated dining establishments, including Aria Sydney, Chiswick, Chophouse, Barangaroo House, North Bondi Fish, Opera Bar, River Bar & Kitchen in Brisbane, Crafted by Matt Moran, Opera Kitchen and The Rockley Pub.
