New Maitland Aquatic Centre indoor pool moves towards completion

The construction of the new 25-metre indoor pool at Maitland Aquatic Centre is nearing completion.

Maitland City Council project architect Aaron Cook recently told local media that the team was working hard to finish before the contract completion date later this month.

Cook said he was pleased with progression of the project, especially considering they had lost about a month of work time throughout the course of the project due to rain.

He explained “it’s all going to plan, we’re very happy with it.”

Construction of the project, which is under the control of Graph Builders Pty Ltd, began in mid-March 2016.

The new $8.5 million pool project, which also included a covered walkway and alterations to existing amenities, is part of a series of ongoing upgrades to sporting facilities in the NSW Hunter Valley community.

Other projects being undertaken by the Maitland City Council have included a netball building in Maitland Park that was completed in April 2016 and the new grandstand at No. 1 Sportsground, which is also nearing completion.
