New Goodlife 24/7 gym opens in Perth suburb of Success

Goodlife Health Clubs has opened its first new fitness centre in Western Australia since its acquisition of Fitness First’s clubs in the state in September last year.

The new club is set within the Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre's multi-million dollar redevelopment in the Perth suburb of Success.

In less than four weeks of operations, the new club, which is a 24-hour (24/7) operation, has reached over 2,500 members.

The Club offers a child-minding service, a flexible group fitness timetable, plus virtual yoga, Pilates and cycle classes.

Promotional information for the new clubs explains “Goodlife Success smashes the regular gym stereotype with technology-fuelled facilities, enough state-of-the-art equipment to fill Perth Arena and designer interior finishes.

“Whatever your preference, whether it's jogging on the treadmill, cruising on the cross-trainer, DIY circuit training, yoga and stretching or weight lifting, there's a dedicated space with your name written all over it.”

Nationally, Goodlife Health Clubs operate 76 clubs with over 210,000 members. An increasing number of these clubs are moving to 24/7 operations.

A long time high performing division within Ardent Leisure, Goodlife Health Club’s were subject to considerable scrutiny by financial analysts as Ardent’s shares suffered considerable volatility during March this year.

More recently, a feature in Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper questioned the negative tone of this scrutiny, suggesting that Goodlife’s strong membership numbers and club openings “doesn’t look like a business model in trouble, with more gyms switching to the popular 24 hour format and a new digital application helping to collect member data and drive retention.”
