Workout technology for Health Clubs increasing in popularity
Australian health clubs are ditching pen and paper in preference for computerised systems when it comes to creating and managing member's workout programs.
More and more clubs are recognising the benefits of using computer software to manage member progression such as reduced paper consumption, ease of access and greater efficiency.
One such system is MobileFit, an electronic workout prescription and retention program that is leading the drive towards computerised workout programs.
The MobileFit system has spread rapidly Australia wide particularly over the past two years and is now used by a large number of leisure centres, private health clubs, and universities.
MobileFit Principle Lane Harrison explains "when we launched MobileFit workout technology in Australia almost four years ago the majority of Australian health club were using pen and paper cards to manage their workouts programs.
"Since then we have seen a significant change with more and more clubs switching over to electronic prescription and management of member's workout programs.
"At first, clubs were a little reluctant to 'dip their toe in the water', however, once managers saw other clubs implementing the technology it has become increasingly common. The growth of devices such as smart phones and tablets have also helped accelerate the concept.
Harrison anticipates that within five years all Australian health and fitness clubs will use computers, tablets and smartphone to create and manage workouts, "adding it will be difficult to find clubs using pen and paper."
In addition to MobileFit's workout prescription capabilities the system includes a host of member retention tools that clubs can use to strengthen retention processes such as tracking member and trainer communication and contact points.
