New facilities for fans on offer for Melbourne’s 2022 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix

Set to return in April next year after two years of cancellations due to the pandemic, the 2022 F1 Australian Grand Prix will feature new hospitality areas, giving fans views of the track not previously available.

Returning to Melbourne’s Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, the track will also have a new look thanks to a major revamp, including modifications to seven corners which will reduce lap times by five seconds.

However, it’s the facilities off the track during the four-day event that organisers hope will entice

A presale for grandstand and general admission tickets, as well hospitality experiences began today, before tickets go on sale to the general public on 2nd December through Ticketmaster.

General admission tickets to the track will range from $36 for Thursday to $101 for the main race on Sunday.

Eight new prime areas to watch the race from have been announced by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), including the ‘The Atrium’ - a glass panelled marquee with a private deck and garden overlooking pit lane. Fully catered tickets will start at $725.

In all, there will be 20 hospitality areas, designed to bring fans closer to the action than ever before for the Formula One race.

On the Lakeside Drive side of the circuit, the new ‘City Summit’ marquee will give fans a view of the reconfigured high-speed turn for the first time, while a ‘Garden Deck’ between turns two and three will give fans a never-before-seen view of the track.

The Paddock Club - the Grand Prix’s answer to the Birdcage at Flemington Racecourse - will return as F1 cars hit the track in Melbourne for the first time since 2019.

Looking forward to the event, AGPC Chief Executive, Andrew Westacott commented “there is an incredible sense of excitement surrounding the return of the Formula One Australian Grand Prix and we cannot wait to bring the world’s greatest motorsport spectacle back to Albert Park.

“We’ll have more hospitality experiences than ever before, allowing fans new and exciting ways to customise their ultimate race weekend.”

Other spectator areas to be released include the revamped ‘Race Cube’ with rooftop bar overlooking the reconfigured turn 11, the ‘Carousel’ overlooking Albert Park Lake and the city skyline, and ‘The Terrace’ above the entry to pit lane.

Next year’s event will feature five separate fan precincts, which crowds will be able to move between freely. Each area will offer unique experiences showcasing a particular Victorian region to stimulate economic growth across the state, with a focus on promoting regional tourism and investment.

The new precincts - Great Ocean Rd, Melbourne city, Grampians, Yarra Valley and Phillip Island - will celebrate Victoria through entertainment, culinary and cultural experiences inspired by its specific region.

The 2022 F1 Australian Grand Prix will run from Thursday 7th April to Sunday 10th April at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.
