New Eastern Stand at Adelaide’s Coopers Stadium set for 2022/23 A-League season

Closed during the last A-League season, the refurbishment of the Eastern Stand at Adelaide’s Coopers Stadium is nearing completion and is expected to be ready to host Adelaide United’s first home game on 30th October.

With the 2022/23 A-League season kicking off tomorrow, Adelaide United will play their first three fixtures away from home as final work are undertaken on the $53 million upgrade of the venue.

Being undertaken for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the venue to host five matches works to the Eastern Stand have included the addition of a new roof spanning 2,200 metre² and the addition of a new corporate area and, on the northern and southern points of the stand, outdoor terrace areas which provide excellent open-air viewing.

Four new light towers have been installed with 82 LED lights, enhancing the overall matchday experience for fans as well as the quality of broadcast, exceeding the FIFA World Cup standard at over 2,500 lux.

Two new video screens are currently being installed in the north-west and south-east corners of the Stadium, while the existing screen on the top of the North Stand will remain as a scoreboard.

The venue was equipped with new gates and turnstiles, which will speed up the entry process and improve the spectator experience with less congestion and shorter waiting times.

All food and beverage outlets have been overhauled, while more male, female and accessible toilets have been installed as part of the redevelopment.

The whole project is currently running on-time and within budget.

Coopers Stadium will operate without naming rights as Hindmarsh Stadium during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
