New business development role at Lake Wanaka Tourism

Lake Wanaka Tourism has announced the appointment of Sharyn Jer to the newly created role of business development executive.
Sharyn will work alongside Lake Wanaka Tourism General mManager, James Helmore, to develop businesses opportunities in the areas of inbound tourism, conference and incentive and weddings, realising the potential the alpine resort town has in these areas.
She brings with her three years of experience at Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism as trade marketing executive and since moving to Wanaka six months ago has worked as a frontline consultant in the i-SITE providing her with extensive local knowledge.
Sharyn explains âIâm really delighted to take on this position and am looking forward to working with the local tourism operators and promoting the amazing destination of Lake Wanaka.
âMy six months at the Lake Wanaka i-SITE has proved invaluable in building relationships with the local operators and my previous experience is ideal for the exciting job of developing new markets.?
James Helmore said attracting someone of Sharynâs calibre was a great result for both the organisation and the destination, stating âSharyn has the skills and knowledge to contribute greatly to the growth of Lake Wanaka as a four-season destination and we very much look forward to her joining the team.?
The creation of the new business development role is the latest step in a major restructuring of the regional tourism organisation with the focus on increasing Lake Wanakaâs market share in the domestic and Australian markets as well as long haul.
