New attractions open for Gold Coast theme parks' peak season
The Gold Coast's theme parks have marked their peak holiday season with the opening of new rides and attractions with further launches set for their busiest period of the year.
Dreamworld's newest precinct, 'Kung Fu Panda: Land of Awesomeness', is now fully open with the including our new 'Big 8' thrill ride, 'Pandamonium'; the new 'Skadoosh' Bumper Cars and the 'Kung Fu Academy'.
Currently boasting Madagascar Madness and Shrek's Faire Faire Away, this new land is the third installment in the Dreamworld DreamWorks Experience, opened earlier this year.
Dreamworld Chief Executive Todd Coates said "summer is shaping up to be huge for Dreamworld, with new rides, new attractions and new experiences that you won't get anywhere else in the country.
"Kung Fu Panda: Land of Awesomeness well and truly lives up to its name, transporting you into the world made famous in the DreamWorks Animation films.
"This third installment has further solidified the alliance between Dreamworld and DreamWorks Animation creating the full DreamWorks Experience which can only be found at Dreamworld."
Meanwhile Village Theme Parks' Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World and Wet'n'Wild Water World have ramped up for the holidays with new attractions to thrill and entertain the holiday crowds.
The world's first 'Justice League 3D The Ride' is now open at Movie World, the 'Constrictor' is sending guests on a wild 30 kilometre/oer hour ride at Wet'n'Wild, with 'Seal Harbour', a paradise for seals, set to open at Sea World in the coming weeks
Village Roadshow Theme Parks Chief Marketing Officer, Dale Stratford said guests are enjoying some of the most exciting rides and attractions available in Australia today with around $15 million invested recently to ensure guests have a theme park experience they will never forget.
Stratford explained "our feedback from the lucky people who have experienced the new Justice League 3D ride is that they love the competitiveness of the ride as they face off against each other to see who can get the highest score. It's like nothing else in Australia with guests joined by Super Heroes in using 3D laser blasters against evil villain, Starro the Conqueror and his alien spores.
"Wet'n'Wild has unleashed new heights of water slide fun with the launch of the mother of all water slides, the Constrictor, with the tightest and highest banking turns in the world.
"Sea World, with Shark Bay looking spectacular and all the visual delight of Dinosaur Island, is finalising the new attraction Seal Harbour where guests can get up close and personal with these playful animals. We will be launching for the school holidays.
"There are a range of exciting new attractions, rides and special events at all Village Roadshow Theme Parks and with this summer expected to be a sizzler we expect holiday-makers to be out in force enjoying the best rides and experiences available."
Gold Coast Tourism Chairman Paul Donovan said the summer holidays were one of the busiest time of the year for the parks, telling the Gold Coast Bulletion "this time of the year traditionally is when the parks launch new attractions or have new shows to get people through the gates.
"The theme parks, like the rest of the Gold Coast, are busy."
