Mudderella obstacle event challenge for women launches in Australia

Mudderella, the world’s leading full-day athletic event series for women by women, has today announced it is coming to Australia – challenging Australian women to get out of their comfort zone and into the mud.

Originating in the USA in 2013, Mudderella is an 8 to 10 kilometre muddy obstacle course challenge featuring 12 to 15 obstacles designed to test balance, full-body strength and agility. The event, which is not timed, encourages women to ‘own your strong’ in a positive, team-focused atmosphere that reinforces participants’ dedication to personal aspirations and fitness.

Explaining the arrival of the event in Australia, Mudderella spokeswoman Antonia Clark states “we’re proud to put on events that celebrate women’s strength, and we’re especially excited to bring this unique experience to the women of Australia.

“We know there’s more to life than going to the gym; our events meet women’s real active lifestyle needs and give women from all walks of life the chance to experience something amazing.”

Mudderella’s first event in Australia will be held in Melbourne in November, with the option to expand the event across Australia early in 2016.

With a raft of exclusive obstacles to encourage fun and teamwork, participants can expect balance beams, tyre swings, cargo-net climbing, chute sliding and of course plenty of mud!

Obstacles on the course include Wheels in Motion, which sends participants across swinging tires, and Hat Trick, in which participants jump off a trampoline, crawl up a cargo net, and slide into a deep pool of water.

Commentating on the announcement, Mudderella Australia Ambassador, Jo Stanley added “I love fitness and exercise, but there comes a time when you want something a bit more interesting than the same old running route, a bit more challenging than Pilates and a little more outdoors than your spin class.

“Mudderella is giving me a focus and a goal that’s fun and completely different from anything I’ve ever done before.

“Plus I get to pull all my best girlfriends together to train, which is 60% about motivating each other to get fitter, and 40% about the catch up, chat, and possible glass of wine afterwards!

“I can’t wait for Mudderella – to push myself, feel strong, get messy, and to go through it all with some of my best girlfriends, knowing that when I get stuck on top of that wall, I won’t be left behind because we’re all in it together.

“If you’re looking for a fun challenge that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but will take you outside your comfort zone, grab your mates and get into it! The laughs you have will easily outweigh the pain along the way. Promise!”

Beyond the course, Mudderella offers a full day experience celebrating women’s strength – inside and out. The day begins with The Works, to help participants look the part before they run, followed by a Stretch + Strengthen session. The Rinse + Revive station features showers, food, music and entertainment to help participants freshen up and relax after completing the course.

Men are encouraged to join teams in support of their wives, daughters, sisters, mothers, friends and coworkers. All are welcome to come out to Mudderella as spectators, with activities for the whole family.

Mudderella is also partnering with White Ribbon, Australia’s only national, male-led campaign to end men’s domestic violence against women. By raising awareness and support for this organisation, Mudderella strives to do its part and contribute to a better future for women across Australia.

Welcoming Mudderella’s backing, White Ribbon Chief Executive Libby Davies commented “White Ribbon Australia is excited to be a part of this new event.

“Women play an essential role in our work, standing alongside men to break the silence about men’s violence against women and create safer communities for women and girls across Australia.

“We encourage men and women to get together, create a team and enjoy Mudderella.”

Participant and spectator registration is now available for the 7th November in Melbourne event at http://mudderella.com/events/melbourne-2015/
