Exhibition to showcase ongoing growth of multisport and triathlon events

The ongoing growth of multisport and triathlon events is set to be highlighted at the inaugural Australian Triathlon Endurance and Cycling (ATEC) Expo in 2015.

To be held at the Sydney Showground 4th and 5th July next year, the ATEC Expo offers brands and products used by multisport and triathlon participants an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their products, technology and services to actively engaged consumers across dedicated zones for biking; swimming; running; technology and performance; nutrition; obstacle and endurance and junior sports

Supported by key associations including Triathlon Australia, Bicycle NSW, Surf Lifesaving NSW, Mountain Bike Australia and the Obstacle Course Racing Association, the ATEC Expo will be accompanied by a comprehensive seminar program featuring workshops from professional triathletes, cyclists, swimmers and coaches who will provide expert advice on a range of training, nutrition and lifestyle topics.

Inspired by the continual boom in endurance sport participation internationally – with Australia remaining one of the world’s key triathlon and multisport markets – event organisers Informa developed the ATEC Expo to meet the demand of this growing athletic community.

Olympian and professional Triathlete, Courtney Atkinson, and Triathlete Rebekah Keat have both been announced as the official event Ambassadors for the inaugural event that will tap into the surging momentum being experienced by Australia’s multisports industry.

Atkinson, who was the number one Australian male triathlete at both the Beijing (2008) and London (2012) Olympic Games, is passionate about supporting the Expo.

Having witnessed first-hand Australia’s shift towards participation in endurance and multisports events throughout his own career, he sees the need for an event that brings professionals and amateurs together under one roof.

Atkinson explains “it never ceases to amaze me the people I meet from different walks of life who, to my surprise, are either training to compete in a triathlon or cycling for fitness.

“It has been a pleasure to be involved and witness the growth in triathlon and the surrounding industry in the past decade.”

The ATEC Expo aims to engage with professional, recreational and junior athletes, giving them the opportunity to learn about the latest products and innovations designed to boost their competitive edge.

In developing the ATEC Expo, Informa Exhibition Director Vanessa Iacomino led a market research campaign that that uncovered that there was a gap in the market for an exhibition targeted at the triathlete, endurance athlete, cyclist and multisport enthusiast market that was not associated with a competitive event.

The validation to launch was further affirmed by ths support of the industry associations now backing the ATEC Expo and a range of leading industry brands already confirmed as exhibitors.
