Mount Druitt Swimming Centre celebrates 40th birthday

Mount Druitt Swimming Centre celebrated 40 years as a community pool serving Sydney's west on Saturday 12th December with a Birthday Splash.

The seasonal pool opened in 1975 and is one of two seasonal centres owned by Blacktown City Council and managed by Blacktown Key Venues.

Its 40th Birthday Splash was packed with free activities including inflatables, stalls from local community groups, jumping castles and sports clinics run by AFL NSW/ACT and Little Kickers Blacktown & Districts.

There was also Aqua fitness class and the latest innovation to hit Mount Druitt – Aqua Zumba class.

Though the day, a Swimathon celebrated the milestone with a total of 40 kilometres swam. Blacktown, Mayor Stephen Bali, even logged six laps himself.

Commenting on the day, and the milestone Mayor Bali stated “Mount Druitt Swimming Centre has always been at the heart of the community, and 40 years is a fantastic achievement.”

Mount Druitt Swimming Centre will continue the celebrations with a Dive-in Movies Series through January.
