Melbourne's Firelight Festival to stage new light show beneath Marvel Stadium
As part of the City of Melbourne's Firelight Festival, Marvel Stadium is to is to transform its below ground spaces with an underground light show and labyrinth.
Running from 28th June to 14th July, the Firelight Labyrinth experience, which will feature more than 140,000 lights, cutting-edge technology and dynamic audio, is being brought to the venue by international creative lighting specialists, Mandylights.
Set to be the main attraction of this year's Festival, visitors will weave their way through the multimedia labyrinth, featuring cutting-edge technology that's never been used in Australia. It will portray a modern version of the mythology of Theseus and the Minotaur, following Theseus' descent into the labyrinth and his ensuing battle with the Minotaur.
Commenting on the experience, Marvel Stadium General Manager, Scott Fitzgerald stated “Marvel Stadium is excited to be bringing Firelight Labyrinth to the stadium precinct.
“It’s just another family friendly event we are delivering with the aim to showcase activity at the stadium 365 days per year, alongside our newly renovated state-of-the-art Stadium Square.”
Lasting up to an hour, tickets cost $37.50. Visitors enter the show every 15 minutes.
Firelight Labyrinth is presented by the City of Melbourne and supported by Event Partners China Airlines, Mandylights and Marvel Stadium.
