Melbourne to host second Sports Club Management Expo

Ticket sales have opened for the second annual Sports Club Management Expo, providing a forum for grass roots sporting clubs to come together for the first time in Victoria.

Being held on Sunday 17th November at the State Library of Victoria in Mebourne, the one-day event will present a series of workshops on how to best manage local clubs along with an exhibition.

Workshop topics include writing grants and fundraising, using Facebook & Twitter, building participation, the latest Working With Children Checks, Sports Rage, and the new Workplace Health & Safety laws for sporting clubs.

Sports Club Management Expo founder Alex Mednis explains "we've got a really great range of workshops and presenters ... "from Government agencies involved with sport, to non-profits such as the Drug Foundation and Volunteering Victoria."

The Expo features almost 30 businesses, government departments and non-profits that deal almost exclusively with local clubs.

Mednis adds "whether you want to chat to the government about their sports programs, or find a new trophy supplier, or get an app developed to manage your club, we've got you covered.

"Also exhibiting this year are a number of sports-related startup companies, who can help sports raise money and participate in online learning".

The event ran for the first time last year in Sydney, attracting over 300 sporting clubs and associations .

Event partners for the 2013 event include the 9 Regional Sports Assemblies in Victoria, state sporting organisations such as Cricket Victoria, Rowing Victoria, Victorian Rugby League, and others, as well as Play By The Rules, Sports Community and Volunteering Victoria.

Commenting on the partnerships, Mednis concludes "t's been great to see the support from industry bodies right across Victoria, in particular the State Sporting Organisations.

"To have their support means that more clubs will have access to the best training and sports services across Victoria, and in turn that will help those sports grow.

"All of us running the event also run our own local sporting clubs, and we understand money is always an issue, so we've tried to make the tickets as cheap as possible for clubs to attend."

Early Bird Tickets are now available for $30, with partnered State Sporting Organisations offering further discounts to members.
