Melbourne LIVE forum to explain uniqueness of Melbourne’s tourism industry
High profile businesses from Melbourne’s visitor industry are set to come together at Destination Melbourne’s Melbourne LIVE forum on 31st May 2018.
Together with principal partner, Transport for Victoria, Melbourne LIVE will deliver an innovative event focused on Leadership, Innovation and the Visitor Experience.
Now in its third year, the full-day conference boasts a program of globally recognised speakers presenting on how to design meaningful experiences which incorporate design, story, digital harmony, empathy, play and meaning.
This year the headline speaker at Melbourne LIVE is Burkhard Kieker, Chief Executive of visitBerlin, the destination management organisation for one of Europe’s most visited cities. Burkhard will present key insights from Berlin’s transformation through a hostile political environment, into a world-renowned cultural tourism capital.
The event will also see Music Victoria Chief Executive Patrick Donovan discussing music tourism and Melbourne’s place at the cutting edge of culture while Storyation co-founder Lauren Quaintance will examine the importance of the story, and how to take visitors on a journey before they have even left their homes.
Author Simon Waller, an international speaker on the topics of digital disruption and the future of work, will look at how technology isn’t about making human interaction obsolete and Australia’s ‘Breakthrough Speaker of the Year’ in 2018, Mykel Dixon will help participants rediscover their creative confidence for relevance in a 21st Century Renaissance.
All speakers will provide thought provoking content to encourage attendees to get under the skin of Melbourne.
Looking forward to the event, Destination Melbourne Chief Executive, Laura Cavallo explains “this year’s theme is ‘Under the Skin, and we want to stimulate everyone to consider what makes Melbourne the truly unique destination it is, beyond the expected.
“Everywhere you look, there are layers of history, story and culture, across Melbourne. Melbourne LIVE is about peeling back the layers, digging deep, and exposing the transformative value that brings visitors back for more.”
Since its establishment in 2016, the Melbourne LIVE Tourism Forum has grown from strength to strength.
For an event that is only three years old, it has attracted guests from Los Angeles, Copenhagen, and now Berlin, cementing itself as the must-attend industry conference for thought leaders and enthusiastic innovators across Melbourne’s tourism landscape. It is attended by participants from Melbourne’s major attractions, accommodation sector, tour operators, arts and culture and transport sectors, who will delve into Melbourne’s ability to attract new and returning visitors in a way that leverages Melbourne’s authenticity.
Melbourne LIVE is being held at Arts Centre Melbourne.
