Melbourne Aquarium launches interactive Rainforest experience in time for school holidays
In time for the school holidays, the Melbourne Aquarium has launched Australia's most interactive Rainforest experience, the Rainforest Adventure.
Themed to reflect the leafy surrounds of the Australian Rainforest, the new Rainforest Adventure gives visitors a chance to wonder at some of the truly unique animals not found anywhere else in the world including bizarre bugs, aquatic reptiles, river giants, ancient Australians and the world's largest display of Archerfish.
The new state-of-the-art Rainforest Adventure aims to educate visitors about the importance of keeping much-loved local marine animals safe and waterways clean. Australia's most interactive Rainforest experience will include presentations from leading aquarists, animal feeds, dry touch pool experiences, interactive signage and much more.
Taking three months to construct, using state-of-the-art life support systems and latest aquarium technology, Rainforest Adventure is just one of 12 new zones to be launched throughout the $8 million, five month refurbishment plan for Melbourne Aquarium.
Melbourne Aquarium Curator Paul Hamilton explains "Australia's Rainforests are home to a wide variety of unique creatures not found anywhere else in the world.
"Many of the species we can see in Rainforest Adventure rely on special features or adaptations to help them survive in harsh climates. It's exciting to be able to give visitors a special glimpse into one of the world's most diverse ecosystems."
During the school holidays, MerliMelbourne Aquarium will also welcome a team of undersea adventurers the Octonauts who are set to explore, rescue and protect Melbourne Aquarium's underwater world.
Interactive stations through the attraction will provide opportunities to get involved the underwater adventure world of the Octonauts. Young visitors can discover quiz trails, colouring-in stations, a movie room and can even win a variety of Octonauts-themed goodies during the daily talks and feeds taking place daily within the attraction.
