Malu Barrios appointed General Manager of the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island
AEG Ogden has moved quickly to install an experienced management team at the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island following its appointment to operate the facility by the NSW Government.
The team will be headed by experienced venue executive Malu Barrios, who has been appointed General Manager of the facility.
Barrios has for the past five years overseen the opening and ongoing success of the AEG Ogden managed Darwin Convention Centre.
Prior to Darwin she was General Manager of Sydney Showground for five years and spent six years as Events Director at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, also operated by AEG Ogden.
The Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island will be open for the 2014 exhibition season and will offer 25,000 metre² of high quality, fully enclosed space specifically constructed for Sydney's exhibitions and tradeshows.
It will house Sydney's leading public exhibitions and trade shows during the development of the new 20 hectare international convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct at Darling Harbour.
AEG Ogden is part of the Darling Harbour Live consortium, which is partnering with the NSW Government to deliver the new, world class convention, exhibition and entertainment facilities at Darling Harbour, and will operate of the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney, due for completion in December 2016.
AEG Ogden is contracted to Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the government agency responsible for the operation of the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island and the new facilities proposed for Darling Harbour.
