Malaysia's Jengka Wonderland waterpark opens

By Karen Sweaney

The 1.2-hectare Jengka Wonderland waterpark opened earlier this month in Bandar Pusat Jengka, Malaysia. Located among lush greenery, the water park, which adopts a Middle Eastern architectural concept, offers various attractions ranging from adults and children’s water slides, a slide tower with five slides, pirate-ship, a man-made wave beach and sprouting water cannons.

Jengka Wonderland operator Mohd Rafi Ekramuddin said more than 3,000 people had visited the park since it opened on 1st December.

Explaining that the park’s concept is to promote ideal recreation for an entire family, Ekramuddin advised "besides buying the food and beverages sold at our cafe, visitors to the water park are also allowed to bring in their own meals. We aim to create a friendly atmosphere and ensure visitors are comfortable when they come to the park.

“Since images about the attractions in the park went viral on the social media several months ago, many people have been inquiring about the park and the decision to open during the school holidays is timely. The park can accommodate up to 5,000 visitors at a time.”

Jengka Wonderland has adopted the Middle East and Rome building concept with vibrant colours and the park has also included elements of fantasy to suit its name.

Ekramuddin said he was confident that the water park would receive a positive response despite its location in a small town as his idea was well-received during a survey conducted among Felda settlers in the vicinity.

He added “apart from being a recreational site, the residents here realise the water park is going to create a lot of jobs and help boost the economy. Now with the latest attraction, Bandar Pusat Jengka is set to reach great heights."

20 workers have also been hired to work at the park while future expansion plans include building a 40-room hotel in the vicinity next year expecting to commence operations in 2020.
