Lizard Island and Heron Island resorts shortlisted in top international tourism awards

Delaware North Companies have announced that two of their Australian properties, the iconic Lizard Island and Heron Island resorts, have been shortlisted in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for the Top 25 Resorts in Australia and the South Pacific.

This is the second year that the luxurious Lizard Island has been nominated in this category. Boasting unbridled views of the Great Barrier Reef, exquisite natural beauty, a variety of diving experiences and the exclusive Essentia Day Spa, the resort is renowned for offering guests unprecedented levels of indulgence in a truly striking natural setting.

Also located on the Great Barrier Reef, Heron Island is famous for its spectacular offerings of wildlife. From October to March each year, Heron Island becomes the breeding home to hundreds of Green and Loggerhead turtles, offering guests a unique first hand view into one of nature’s greatest journeys.

Commenting on the shortlisting, Greg Magi, Executive Director of Australian Parks and Resorts at Delaware North Companies stated “we are ecstatic that two of our resorts have been nominated in this category by Condé Nast Traveler readers.

“The acknowledgement is a well-deserved recognition of the tireless efforts of our staff and suppliers in creating unforgettable experiences for guests, and a true credit to the stunning natural habitat in which these properties are based.”

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice awards have been running for the past four years, included 128,000 votes submitted from their extensive network of readers.

The final results of the awards will be published in Condé Nast Traveler’s November issue.
