LeisureSafe looks to redefine risk in Australian aquatics and recreation

LeisureSafe, a specialist risk and safety company, has officially launched to support organisations across the Australian aquatics and recreation industry.

Founded by long-time aquatic and recreation professionals, Jake Culkin and Declan Gillard-Martin, LeisureSafe is a bold new venture aimed at changing the way the leisure industry approaches risk - through combining real-world experience, cutting-edge technology and a shared commitment to building safer, more inclusive communities.

Launched as a specialist safety group, LeisureSafe has been built for organisations who want more than compliance and strive for best practice.

Co-founder Declan Gillard-Martin notes “we’re here to turn your risk into resilience. That means moving beyond compliance and embedding safety into the heart of operations, as a culture, a guest experience, and a business advantage.”

Supporting Organisations across Aquatics, Recreation & Tourism
LeisureSafe is built for organisations who manage aquatic facilities, swim schools, leisure programs and recreation environments with Gillard-Martin adding “we thrive in spaces where people connect, children explore, and communities come together."

The team offers a full suite of services including facility and system audits, staff training, risk assessments, emergency response planning, and inclusive policy development. They advise and consult on safety infrastructure, operational efficiencies and program delivery.

Co-founder Jake Culkin advises “our work is about connecting the dots between our partners and their pain-points. Safety is muti-facetted and requires trust and expertise. We see ourselves as an extension of your organisation, and are committed to helping your people succeed.”

A Human-Centred Approach to Holistic Safety
LeisureSafe is underpinned by a clear mission: to help leisure organisations create safer, more inclusive communities. Both founders are qualified Lead Auditors in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and hold formal business and recreation leadership qualifications. More importantly, they’ve lived the frontline realities and know what works.

Already working closely with organisations to deliver holistic safety throughout Australia, LeisureSafe is actively inviting new partners from across the industry, including councils, management groups, swim schools and associations, to begin building their own inclusive, safer community.

Gillard-Martin shares “we build eco-systems that reflect how our partners really work. This is about empowering teams, reducing risk, and making safety something people are proud of.”
