Lauretta Stace to depart Fitness Australia

Longstanding Fitness Australia Chief Executive Lauretta Stace, who has been in the role at the fitness industry's peak body since 2006, is to leave as of 12th February next year.

In a statement, David Allan, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Fitness Australia, announced Stace's departure, advising of the legacy she will be leaving behind.

Allan explained "on behalf of the Board of Directors, I regretfully announce the resignation of Lauretta Stace from the role of Chief Executive Officer of Fitness Australia.

"Lauretta is leaving Fitness Australia to take up a new role with a large aged and community care services organisation that will enable her to fully utilise the skills, experience and connections that she has developed to help improve the prospects for healthy ageing in the Australian community. Whilst this is a great loss for Fitness Australia, we respect her decision and wish her all the very best for this next stage of her career.

"Since joining Fitness NSW in 2005, and then taking up the national CEO role for Fitness Australia in 2006, Lauretta has made a significant contribution to both Fitness Australia and the fitness industry.

“As a result of her vision, leadership, skill and persistence, Fitness Australia is now a highly respected and influential industry association and the fitness industry has secured its rightful place as a leader in the healthy lifestyle sector.

"Lauretta has created solid foundations for the future growth and success of Fitness Australia as well as developed and implemented a range of innovative initiatives that will continue to create long-term value for the fitness industry.

“At all times, Lauretta has performed in her role with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity and has earned the respect and trust of a wide range of stakeholders. For this, we are immensely grateful.

"As this chapter of Fitness Australia leadership closes, the board will be seeking a Chief Executive to build upon the strong work to date, and to maximise future opportunities for Fitness Australia in furthering member support initiatives, and to contribute towards the continued growth of the industry.

"We acknowledge Lauretta’s efforts and thank her for the unconditional commitment and dedication throughout the past decade. On behalf of everyone at Fitness Australia, I would like to wish Lauretta the best of success for her future endeavours."
