Laservision transforms Cairns esplanade and parkland into immersive underwater world
As part of the recently held Cairns Festival, Laservision’s spectacular Luna Light Journeys transformed the Cairns esplanade lagoon and parkland with its exciting immersive entertainment experience.
Laservision, as creators of unique and unforgettable sensory experiences, harness the power of light, water, fire and other high-impact mediums to evoke the senses, connect audiences with their environments and create enduring memories.
‘Reef Light’ a key new component of the annual Cairns Festival, was part of Laservision’s Luna Light Journey offering, and their fifth successful journey experience in Australia thus far delivering the perfect family experience and reason to enjoy the outdoors after sundown.
From the 26th of August to the 4th of September, the annual, 10-day Cairns Festival enjoyed its Diamond Jubilee of celebrating arts and culture in the tropics. To celebrate the importance of the Great Barrier Reef, Laservision was chosen to bring their light journey experiences as well as their world-renowned water, light and sound spectaculars.
Laservision transformed the Cairns Esplanade Lagoon and over 30,000metre2 of Esplanade parkland into a virtual ‘under-the-sea’ experience, immersing audiences in impressive light displays and kaleidoscopes of colour. From floating holograms of sea turtles and jellyfish to beautiful pulsing bioluminescence and jelly fish gardens bathed in laser waves, Laservision’s incredible performance gave visitors a ‘Wow’ experience.
Cairns Mayor, Bob Manning, said the community embraced the event despite some wet weather and still was the “largest festival we’ve ever produced, and the positive response from the local community has been overwhelming.”
Laservision Chief Executive, Shannon Brooks added “we are honoured to have another incredible Luna Light Journey, ‘Reef Light’ for such a significant milestone of the 60-year, Diamond Jubilee of Cairns Festival. We were very excited to see over 100,000 people attend this year’s event and have received many fantastic comments about our installation, as well as the involvement of many artists, providers and performers who made up this incredible, 10-day experience.”
Laservision attractions are responsible for generating millions of visitors and guests for their global tourism, hospitality, and government clients.
