LAI Games launches their first consumer VR game

LAI Games, a global leader in the design and development of arcade games and attractions, has launched Arcade Legend, their first official foray into the direct-to-consumer market.

LAI Games is giving everyone the chance to build and manage their own authentic arcade, complete with officially licensed, modern arcade titles they can play to win tickets and redeem for prizes in their very own prize store.

LAI Games is an arcade experience company that connects people with games. They design unique, accessible, and creative games and experiences for players in arcades and at home, with a portfolio comprised of video games, virtual reality experiences, mobile applications, ticket and prize redemption games and more.

Shannon Perell, Chief Product Officer for LAI Games notes “as arcade game developers, it’s our mission to connect people with games.

“Arcades are a unique social space, and our vision for Arcade Legend is to take the same physical games and environments that bring us together in the real world and deliver an authentic arcade environment that connects people in the virtual world.”

After beta testing at consumer tradeshows globally, Arcade Legend is now available now on Meta Quest, the world’s largest, most highly curated content platform. The greatly anticipated game features authentic recreations of many of LAI’s current and classic real-world titles, complete with rewarding physics and augmented effects. After mysteriously inheriting an abandoned arcade, players clean up and restore the facility before decorating and customising their new venue using incredible tools and a wide variety of materials, furniture, and decorations.

As players continue the restoration, they can earn “reputation” to reveal hidden areas, add more games, and attract new NPC (Nonpayer Characters) customers, turning the venue into a hive of activity! Players can invite friends into multiplayer sessions for social competitive fun or go head-to-head on global leaderboards against the best players in the world.

While the game is LAI’s first official foray into the direct-to-consumer market, the company has been creating virtual reality experiences for arcades since 2017. The popular Virtual Rabbids created the category for unattended location-based VR and set the industry benchmark for quality. Their next endeavour, Asphalt 9 VR, debuted at this year’s IAAPA show in Orlando, Florida.
