Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre hosts 1600 events in 2024

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia’s premier business events destination, has shared details of its exceptional performance in 2024, hosting 1,600 events, welcoming 1.1 million delegates and generating an estimated RM1 billion (US$222 million) in economic impact for Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.

The venue has highlighted its key achievements during the year.

• Event Diversity: The Centre successfully hosted over 100 international and regional conventions, exhibitions, and numerous corporate and star-studded entertainment events. Additionally, the Centre also provided off-site premium food & beverages (F&B) catering at the PETRONAS Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP™), the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2024 and other event venues.

• Refurbished Spaces and Facilities: In 2024, the Centre invested significantly in modernising its facilities and services. Key upgrades included state-of-the-art interiors, smart sensors, and BYOD-enabled infrastructure. The complete redesign and rebuild of the on-site kitchen empowered the in-house culinary team to elevate dining experiences with greater efficiency and creativity.

• Sustainability Achievements and Community Engagements: As a leader in sustainability, the Centre continues to set benchmarks for environmental responsibility and community impacts. Achieving an impressing an impressive a 100% food waste diversion rate through enhanced composting initiatives, the Centre demonstrated its unwavering commitment to reducing its environmental footprint. Building on this momentum, the second edition of the Sustainable September campaign emerged as a dynamic platform fostering community wellness and eco-conscious living, further solidifying the Centre’s position as an environmentally responsible venue.

Complementing these efforts, the the venue collaborated on the Batik Explosion campaign, an inspiring celebration of cultural heritage and community spirit. These initiatives not only highlighted the beauty and craftmanship of batik but also underscored the power of giving back. Through the campaign, the Centre brought people together to contribute meaningful gifts for underprivileged children, fostering a sense of unity and compassion within a community. These combined efforts reflect the Centre’s steadfast dedication to creatin a positive and lasting impact on both people and the planet.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) General Manager, John Burke remarked “2024 has been a positive year for us, marked by a busy event calendar and remarkable achievements.

Awards and Accolades
The Centre’s excellence was also recognised through several prestigious awards, including the TTG Travel Awards 2024 - Best Convention & Exhibition Centre, the M&C Asia Stella Awards for Sustainable Convention Centre, and the ASEAN MICE Venue Standard Awards for Best Exhibition Centre and Best Meeting Room. Additionally, the KLCC achieved EarthCheck Gold Certification, Healthy Venue Certification, and re-certified its AIPC Gold Certification, further cementing its leadership in sustainability, client service and innovation.

Driving Innovation in Meeting and Delegate Experiences
To address evolving client needs, the Centre has embraced a forward-thinking approach to innovation. Beyond spatial enhancements, it has integrated smart sensors and BYOD-enabled infrastructure, reimagining spaces to offer superior functionality and convenience. The complete redesign of the on-site kitchen has enabled the in-house culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences, while upgraded audiovisual and presentation services ensure the KLCC remains at the forefront of event excellence.

Looking Ahead to 2025
The Centre is gearing up for an extraordinary year in 2025, which marks its 20th anniversary. Celebrations will include a line-up of high-profile international conferences and exhibitions, underscoring the Centre’s reputation as the region’s leading venue for world-class business events.
