John Penhallow announces retirement from Aeromic Microphones

After a 30 year involvement in the business, John Penhallow (JP), co-founder of Aeromic Microphones, has announced his retirement at the end of June.

Penhallow founded the company alongside Peter Paisley in 1994. The duo commenced their work together, with Paisley designing and manufacturing the world renowned Aeromic fitness microphones and Penhallow leading the sales.

They were encouraged by several leading Fitness Instructors in Sydney to go to Las Vegas and visit the annual IDEA Fitness Convention & Trade Show. Paisley and Penhallow took some Aeromics with them and, after showing them to various industry professionals from the USA, Canada, the UK and Germany, managed to secure a number of sales. This included sales to AV Now of Santa Cruz, who remain the leading reseller of Aeromics in the USA.

Since then, Aeromic Microphones Australia (AMA) has developed into a full service audio supplier with Export and Trade Sales, as well as a very successful online store. In association with various installation companies, AMA designs and supervises sound system installations and LED lighting for fitness clubs, worldwide.

Speaking on his retirement, Penhallow remarked “After 30 years of living and breathing this business, helping our talented technical team achieve a high level of sales and support, it’s time for me to step down. I leave the business in the very capable hands of the next generation. That includes my daughter Aimee, as our Finance Manager and Andrew Zarounas as Managing Director, steering AMA to greater heights.”

Penhallow also played a pivotal role in establishing and growing the Fitness Audio brand. Without his expertise, dedication and experience, the Fitness Audio brand would not be the business it is today.

Aeromic Microphones shared “JP will be missed by the entire Fitness Audio global team, our supplier partners and loyal clients. We thank him for everything he has done and wish him the best in his retirement.”
