Japanese pay most for gym memberships
Results from a Compare the Market in Australia survey reveal that Japan is the most expensive country for the monthly cost of an adult gym membership.
The new insights come at a time when gyms around the world are gearing up for their annual influx in signups.
Listed by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are the average monthly costs of an adult gym membership in 50 countries around the world, revealing that Japan the most expensive - has prices almost six times higher than the cheapest country, Colombia.
Australia is revealed as the 5th most expensive country, charging US$70.19 for a month's worth of membership.
The survey also lists the top five gym chains in the world by Google search volume.
