Jamberoo Action Park uses latest technology to speed entry

Hand held scanners used at Jamberoo Action Park's entry gates have been speeding up visitor entry this holiday season.

Introduced in time for the busy Christmas holiday season, guest tickets are now scanned using the latest Motorola Hand Held Wireless Computer devices.

Jamberoo Action Park General Manager Dax Eddy explains "we are constantly improving our guest experiences by introducing the latest technologies that make for faster entry into the Park.

"We are using the new Motorola Hand Held Computer that allows us to scan and process guest tickets at a faster rate than ever before."

Results of trials of the portable Motorola Hand Held Wireless Computer devices showed that a guest ticket can, according to Eddy be "scanned every three seconds - equating to 20 guests a minute or 1200 guests per hour."

Jamberoo Action Park has deployed four of the new hand held computers at the entry gates meaning that 4,800 guests can be scanned in 1 hour.

The new hand held computer can also solve ticket problems with a receipt number lookup function. If the ticket is damaged or illegible the operator simply keys in the number and the computer processes the tickets.

During last year's summer school hlidays, in what was believed to be a first in the Australian amusement industry, Jamberoo Action Park trialled new Pre-Ticket Sale software using four Apple Ipads.

The success of this trial now sees, for this holiday season, Jamberoo Action Park using up to 12 Apple Ipads for the Pre-Ticket Sale process.

Jamberoo Action Park is also gearing up for major celebrations for Australia Day on Thursday 26th January when the park will celebrate everything Australian.

On the day, children will be greeted with a free Aussie temporary tattoo and classic Aussie tunes will take over the airwaves throughout the day.

For those een to sport their Australian spirit, Aussie flags, hats, thongs and beach towels will be available for purchase at the Surf Shack, as well as a special 'Aussie Day Sammy Showbag' filled with Aussie goodies available from the Souvenir shop.

The introduction of technology at Jamberoo Action Park is a feature in the January/February 2012 issue of Australasian Leisure Management.
