HSBC SVNS returns to Perth in 2025
Perth has secured the global rugby event - HSBC SVNS - for 2025, following the major success of HSBC SVNS 2024, which drew 48,000 fans over three days.
Previously known as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, HSBC SVNS attracts the world's top rugby nations to play an alternative rugby union format which involves seven players competing in seven-minute halves in a tournament format with round robin and knockout matches over three days.
The sport has a strong following in many of Western Australia's key international inbound tourism markets, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, China and the United States, and prides itself on creating a carnival-like atmosphere for spectators.
This event is expected to once again draw thousands of out-of-state visitors, injecting visitor spend into the State's economy and building on the Western Australian Government's vision to deliver an always-on year-round calendar of events.
The tournament will also be broadcast to a massive global audience, pushing Western Australia further into the spotlight as an international sporting host.
Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister, David Templeman noted "landing a consecutive position as a host for the SVNS is a great outcome for Western Australia, as rugby continues to grow in popularity amongst West Aussies, and the event inspires the next generation of rugby stars.
"SVNS Perth 2025 also positions Western Australia to solidify its growing reputation on the global stage as a world-leading host of major sporting events and continues to activate WA's state-of-the-art infrastructure."
Ticket pre-sales for the 2025 event commence 13th August 2024 and general public tickets are on sale from 27th August.
